Porto Moniz is a full day out from Funchal. On the North West coast of Madeira, this part of the island can get the full brunt of the Atlantic Ocean so the sea is often spectacular. That said, one of Porto Moniz's main visitor attractions are beautiful natural bathing pools formed by once molten lava hitting cold seas.

Restaurante Orca is the biggest and most popular restaurant at Porto Do Moniz with great fish dishes. Although very large and great seating outside, it is often the lunch venue of coach parties so be prepared! |

| There are many great hotels in Porto Moniz offering amazing views from the cliffs. However, the weather can be slightly more changeable than the sunnier south coast (note it was during a December storm when I took these pictures!). |
