From the UK, you can usually find daily flights to Madeira from Gatwick via TAP (Portuguese national airline). However, for those based in the Midlands and North West (Birmingham and Manchester airports) the direct flights are mostly set for Mondays.
From May 2007 the Portuguese government relaxed regulations that, up until this date, kept most of the budget operators away from Madeira. Hereon the market will become a whole lot more competitive with Easy Jet recently announcing two new routes (see below).
A recent Google search found me a BA flight to Madeira for just £59 so it is worth shopping around!
