Do you like heights? Well, if so Madeira has some of the biggest and best thrills for you! Cabo Girão can actually be seen from the apartment, the image to the right was taken from the living room balcony. You can just see a building on the very cliff edge (number 1) which is on route to Cabo Girão. Then directly above it (number 2) is Cabo Girão, Europe's second highest cliff face - a sheer drop of 580m! If you are a real thrill seeker the local authorities are in the process of building a glass platform on which to stand!

On route to Cabo Girão you can stop at a cafe with a great viewing balcony (number 1). Built right on the cliff edge, it also has two cable cars that will take you to the beach below. Local farmers actually use these cable cars to bring fresh produce up from the small plots below, where the south facing sun & cliff face favour some crops.
